Amphicynodonwas an extinctgenusofcaniformcarnivore. It has traditionally been considered an early bear,[1]although recent evidence has suggested it may be a unique member linked to otherpinnipeds.[citation needed]It was endemic to Europe and Asia during theOligocene,from approximately 33.9—28.4Myaand existing for approximately6million years.It was similar in size to earlymustelids.[citation needed]
