Antrimis one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) inAntrim and Newtownabbey,Northern Ireland.[1]The district elects six members toAntrim and Newtownabbey Borough Counciland contains the wards of Antrim Centre, Fountain Hill, Greystone, Springfarm, Steeple and Stiles.[2]Antrim forms part of the South Antrim constituencies for theNorthern Ireland AssemblyandUK Parliament.
It was created for the1985 local elections,replacingAntrim Area Cwhich had existed since 1973. It was calledAntrim Townuntil 2014, and originally contained seven wards (Balloo, Fountain Hill, Massereene, Rathenraw, Springfarm, Steeple and Stiles). For the2014 local electionsit was reduced by one ward, losing Massereene and Rathenraw but gaining Antrim Centre.
