Artemotil(INN;also known asβ-arteether[1]), is a fast acting bloodschizonticidespecifically indicated for the treatment ofchloroquine-resistantPlasmodium falciparummalariaandcerebral malariacases.[2]It is a semi-synthetic derivative ofartemisinin,anatural productof the Chinese plantArtemisia annua.It is currently only used as a second line drug in severe cases of malaria.
