Astrid Park(French:Parc Astrid;Dutch:Astridpark) is an urban public park in the municipality ofAnderlechtinBrussels,Belgium. The park was inaugurated on 13 August 1911 and was named theParc du Meir/Meirpark( "Meir Park" ) until 1935, when the mayor of Anderlecht decided to change its name in memory ofQueen Astrid,the first wife ofKing Leopold III,who died in acar crashthat year.
Since 1917,football clubR.S.C. Anderlechtplays its home matches in theConstant Vanden Stock Stadium(currently known as Lotto Park for sponsorship reasons), located within the park. Hence, the stadium is sometimesmetonymicallyreferred to asParc Astrid.
