Athletissimais an annual athletics meeting inLausanne,Switzerland.Previously one of the fiveIAAF Super Grand Prixevents, it is now part of theDiamond League.
The first edition was held on 8 July 1977 in theStade Pierre de Coubertin.[2]In 1986 the event was moved to theStade olympique de la Pontaise.[2]
TheUBShas been the main sponsor of Athletissima Lausanne since 1982.[3]Other sponsors are Vaudoise Assurances,Omega,Erdgas andNike.[4]
History
[edit]Prior to Athletissima, international athletics meetings were also held in Lausanne on July 6, 1947,[5]and July 13, 1957.[6]The latter was also known as "American Meeting",[7]similar to precursors of theWeltklasse Zürich.
