Bacon soupis asoupmade withbacon.Generally a number ofvegetablesare added[1]and often a thickening agent such aspearl barley,lentils[2]orcorn flour.It can be added to Italianminestronesoup to enhance the flavor.[3]
Many variations exist, which may incorporate primary ingredients such ascabbage,[4][5]beans,[6]potato,[7]lentils, spinach, peas, cauliflower, broccoli, leeks, pumpkin[8]and rice.[9]
Bacon is a common addition to many soups including creamy soups, especially those with a mild flavor that won't overpower the bacon.[10]
