Bad Eilsen(West Low German:Ahlsen) is a municipality in the district ofSchaumburg,inLower Saxony,Germany.It is situated approximately 11 km (6.8 mi) southwest ofStadthagen,and 13 km (8.1 mi) southeast ofMinden.
Bad Eilsen is also the seat of theSamtgemeinde( "collective municipality" )Eilsen.
History
[edit]After World War II, Bad Eilsen hosted the headquarters of theRoyal Air Force(British Air Force of Occupation) in theBritish Zone of Occupationuntil the opening ofJHQ Rheindahlenin 1954. The HQ was served by the airfield atRAF Bückeburg(nowBückeburg Air Base), which also served the nearby HQ of the British Army of the Rhine inBad Oeynhausen.
