Bankendis a village inSouth Lanarkshire,Scotland. It is located near the villages ofBraehead,Coalburnand Cumberhead.
History
[edit]Sometime after the opening ofCoalburn railway stationin 1891,Bankend railway stationopened. It was theterminusof theCoalburn Branch,and closed in July 1926. There was also a Bankend Tramway around the same time. As a result ofopencastcoal mining,the mining village of Bankend was obliterated.
