Barate(Ancient Greek:Βαράτη),Barata(Βάρατα), orBaratta(Βάραττα), was a town ofancient Lycaonia,on the road fromIconiumtoTyana,50M.P.from the former. In someitinerariathe name is also speltBarathra.It was inhabited duringRomanandByzantinetimes.[1]

Its site is tentatively located near Kızılkale,Karaman,Karaman Province,Turkey.[1][2]

Barata is atitular bishopricof theCatholic Church.[3]
