History

From 1900 to 1953 the village was served byBattyeford railway stationon theLeeds New Line.[1]

Governance

The village is part of thecivil parishofMirfield,and part of theMirfieldwardof the metropolitan borough ofKirklees.The borough council is ametropolitan boroughofWest Yorkshire.

Religious sites

Christ the King in Battyeford is anAnglicanchurch and part of theDiocese of Wakefield.[2]It was built in 1973 on the site of the original Christ Church which was built in 1841 and destroyed by fire in 1971.[3]
