Ben Kanute(born December 14, 1992) is an Americantriathletewho competed at the2016 Summer Olympics.In 2017 and 2022 he took second place at theIronman 70.3 World Championship.[3]

Career

Kanute is the 2015 USA Triathlon Elite National champion.[4]He teamed withGwen Jorgensen,Kirsten Casper,andJoe Maloyto win the 2016ITU Triathlon Mixed Relay World Championshipsfor the United States.[4][5][6]Kanute qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics through his placement in a May 2016 qualifying race.[7]Hefinished 29th at the Olympicsin a combined time of 1:48:59.[8]

Personal life

Kanute studied atMarmion Academy,and later graduated with a degree in physiology from theUniversity of Arizonaafter just three years of study.[7]He took up triathlons at the age of eight inspired by his father.[1]He has two younger brothers.[4]He is married with two children.
