Benjamin S. Halpern[2]is a marine biologist and ecologist currently working at theUniversity of California, Santa Barbaraand was the recipient of the 2016A.G. Huntsman Award for Excellence in the Marine Sciences.
Early life and education
[edit]Halpern earned his B.A. fromCarleton Collegein 1995 and earned a Ph.D. from theUniversity of California, Santa Barbarain 2003.[3]
Career
[edit]Halpern, who works at UCSB'sBren School of Environmental Science & Management[4]was featured inNaturefor his team's scientific collaboration on the southern tip of Australia'sGreat Barrier Reefin 2012.[5]He has also been published inNatureand is an advocate of integrating marine protected areas into networks.[2][6]
He is recognized for marine conservation and resource management and is the recipient of the 2016A.G. Huntsman Award for Excellence in the Marine Sciences.[7]
