Bernadette Lorraine Palisada Dominguez Sembrano-Aguinaldo(Tagalog:[pɐliˈsadadɔˈmɪŋgɛssɛmˈbɾanɔʔagɪˈnaldɔ];born February 18, 1976) is a Filipinabroadcast journalist,magazineshow host, news presenter, television host, musician, former field reporter and author.[1]

Newscasting career

Sembrano started withIBCas a newscaster in 1997 when she joined withGMA Networkin 1998. She was anchored the late-night weekend edition newscastGMA Network Newsand the public service showWish Ko Lang!.[2]After walking out in an episode ofSaksiin September 2003, she was suspended by GMA,[2]and was later terminated on December 20, 2003, but she continued to work withWish Ko Lang!until February 14, 2004. she was later replaced byVicky Moralesas its new program host.[3]She was then wooed by the rivalABS-CBNin 2004 where she hosted the public service showLukso ng Dugo,an OFW Drama Anthology entitledNagmamahal, Kapamilyaand the morning showMagandang Umaga, Pilipinas.She also served as a correspondent forABS-CBN's longest investigative journalism show,The Correspondents.

Sembrano was also a co-anchor onTV Patrol Weekend(previouslyTV Patrol Sabado/Linggo) from 2005 to 2011, a newscaster on theDZMMradio station programs likeRadyo Patrol Balita Alas Dose,Gising Pilipinas,andRadyo Patrol Balita Alas Kwatro(alongsideAlex Santos), and a host ofSalamat Dok,Umagang Kay Ganda,and otherABS-CBN News and Current Affairsprograms. She later anchored the morning programLingkod Kapamilyaon DZMM (until 2020) andTeleRadyountil 2023.

On August 3, 2015, she was named the co-anchor of the weeknight edition ofTV Patrol,which replacedKorina Sanchez,after a decade of being in the weekend edition of the said newscast. She later leftUmagang Kay Gandaon October 2 to focus on her duties as aTV Patrolanchor.[4]WhenDWPM Radyo 630was launched on June 30, 2023 as the successor of DZMM on the 630 kHz AM frequency, she began anchoringTatak: SerbisyoalongsideWinnie Cordero,marking her return to AM radio after 3 years. On July 1, 2024, she began anchoringKlinika 630alongside Dr. Dennis Ngo.

She remains one of the more visible newscasters, television hosts, and correspondents of theABS-CBN News and Current Affairs.

Music career

On August 17, 2020, Sembrano was credited asco-lyricistalongsideStar Musiccreative directorJonathan Manaloin the song "Ang Sa Iyo ay Akin"byAegis,the theme song of thePhilippine drama television series of the same name.[5][6]In November 2020, she wrote and recorded the song "Yakapin ang Pasko,"her very first song as singer.[7][8]

On May 5, 2021, one year after theABS-CBN shutdown,Sembrano released her second single "Yakap",which she composed and performed. It was revealed that she initially planned to release the single in 2020, but Manalo suggested that the single be released on the network's first anniversary of being off-air instead.[9]

Personal life

In June 2008, she married Emilio "Orange" Aguinaldo IV, the great-grandson of the firstPresident of the Philippines,Emilio Aguinaldo.[10]She suffered a miscarriage in 2018, as she revealed to have reproduction issues.[11]

In July 2011, Sembrano announced that she hasBell's palsyand underwent therapy.[12]

Education

Sembrano graduated elementary and high school from Angelicum School (nowAngelicum College), a private Catholic school inQuezon City,Philippines. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree inbusiness administrationfrom theUniversity of the Philippines Diliman.[citation needed]
