TheBobo languageis aMande languageofBurkina FasoandMali;the western city ofBobo Dioulassois named partly for theBobo people.It consists of Southern and Northern dialect. The Northern dialect is also known as Konabéré. Northern and Southern Bobo share only 20%–30% intelligibility according toEthnologue,and by that standard are considered separate languages.

The termsBobo Fing'Black Bobo' andBobo Madaréare used to distinguish them fromBobo Gbe'White Bobo' and theBobo Oule'Red Bobo' of Burkina.
