Bojan Mohar(born September 21, 1956) is a Slovenian and Canadian mathematician, working ingraph theory.He is a professor of mathematics at theUniversity of Ljubljana[1]and the holder of aCanada Research Chairin graph theory atSimon Fraser UniversityinVancouver, British Columbia,Canada.[2]

Mohar received his PhD from the University of Ljubljana in 1986, under the supervision ofTomo Pisanski.[3]

Research[edit]

Mohar's research concernstopological graph theory,algebraic graph theory,graph minors,andgraph coloring.[2]

WithCarsten Thomassenhe is the co-author of the bookGraphs on Surfaces(Johns Hopkins University Press, 2001).

Awards and honors[edit]

Mohar was aFulbright visiting scholaratOhio State Universityin 1988, and won theBoris Kidričprize of theSocialist Republic of Sloveniain 1990.[4]He has been a member of the Slovenian Academy of Engineering since 1999.[4] He was named aSIAM Fellowin 2018.[5] He was elected as a Fellow of theAmerican Mathematical Societyin the 2020 Class, for "contributions to topological graph theory, including the theory of graph embedding algorithms, graph coloring and crossing numbers, and for service to the profession".[6]
