Bowieiteis arhodium-iridium-platinumsulfide mineral(Rh,Ir,Pt)2S3,found in platinum-alloy nuggets fromGoodnews Bay, Alaska.[2][3][1]It was named (by theIMAin 1984) after the British scientistStanley Bowie(1917–2008), in recognition of his work on identification of opaqueminerals.[4]
The mineral crystallizes in theorthorhombic crystal system(space groupPbcn).[5]
