Brod Moraviceis a municipality in thePrimorje-Gorski Kotar Countyin westernCroatia.
History
[edit]Brod Moravice was first mentioned in 1260. The rural municipality was founded in the 14th century.[3]Throughout history, it has also been known as Moravice, Gornje Moravice, Turanj and Brodske Moravice. The name was first recorded in one of Bela IV's documents in 1260. The first settlements appeared in Gorski kotar as early as the 10th or 11th centuries, due to the fact that routes to the coast passed through this area.[3]
During the 15th and 16th centuries, the municipality was the subject of numerousTurkish raids.
Geography
[edit]The municipality, part of thehistoric and geographic large regionof theLittoral,is located in the mountain range close to Croatian borders withSlovenia.It dists 65 km fromKarlovac,71 fromRijeka,114 fromZagreb,104 fromLjubljanaand 144 fromTrieste.
Population
[edit]It is the smallest municipality by population, and the oldest one in itscounty.
The municipality is divided into 38 localities, included the town of Brod Moravice itself. In the 2011 census, there were a total of 985 inhabitants in the followingsettlements:[4]

[edit]The municipality counts lot of ancient church buildings.[3]It is also a receptive place for tourism due to its natural environment.[6]
Transport
[edit]Brod Moravice is crossed by thestate roadD3and the nearestmotorwayis theA6(nearest exit is the n.3 "Ravna Gora"). As forrailways,it counts a station on the lineRijeka-Ogulin-Karlovac-Zagreb.
