Băuțar(Hungarian:Alsóbaucár) is acommuneinCaraș-Severin County,westernRomaniawith a population of 2,229 people as of 2021. It is composed of four villages: Băuțar, Bucova (Bukova), Cornișoru (Strimba), and Preveciori.

The commune is located in the northeastern part of the county, on the border withHunedoara County.It is the only commune in the county located in the historical region ofTransylvania;the rest is in theBanat.

The route of theVia Transilvanicalong-distance trailpasses through Băuțar, where theTerra Dacicasection of the trail ends, and theTerra Banaticasection begins.[2]
