Calvin Coolidge Irvin(November 28, 1924 – November 25, 2017) was an AmericanNegro league baseballshortstopand college basketball coach.

A native ofHaleburg, Alabama,Irvin was the brother ofBaseball Hall of FamerMonte Irvin.Younger brother Cal attendedOrange High SchoolandMorgan State University,where he played basketball and football.[1]He played for theNewark Eaglesduring their1946 Negro World Serieschampionship season,[2]and played with theNew York Black Yankeesin 1947.[1]

Irvin went on to become the athletic director and head basketball coach atNorth Carolina A&T State University,coaching there for 18 years, and winning fourCentral Intercollegiate Athletic Associationtitles. A member of theNorth Carolina Sports Hall of Fame,Irvin died inGreensboro, North Carolinain 2017 at age 92.[3][4]
