NGC 4236(also known asCaldwell3) is abarred Magellanic spiral galaxylocated in theconstellationDraco.
The galaxy is a member of theM81 Group,agroup of galaxieslocated at a distance of approximately 11.7Mly(3.6Mpc) fromEarth.[3]The group also contains thespiral galaxyMessier 81and thestarburst galaxyMessier 82.[3]NGC 4236 is located away from the central part of the M81 group at a distance of 14.5Mly(4.45Mpc) fromEarth.[4]
