Caleb Poulter(born 12 October 2002) is a professionalAustralian rules footballerwho plays for theWestern Bulldogsin theAustralian Football League(AFL). He previously played for the Collingwood Football Club.
Early life and state football
[edit]Poulter is from the townArdrossanon theYorke Peninsula.[1]He played junior football forArdrossan Kangaroos.[2][3]Poulter played withWoodville-West Torrensin theSouth Australian National Football League(SANFL). In 2018, he played 7 matches with the under-16 team, kicking one goal and averaging 15.9 disposals.[4]The following year, he played 13 matches with the under-18 team, kicking 11 goals and averaging 17.2 disposals.[5]Poulter started 2020, by being nominated for theTorrens UniversityCup Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, following his 34 disposals in the 1st round.[6]In October 2020, Poulter excelled at theAFL Draft Combine.[7]Later that month, he played in the annual South Australian Under 18 All-Stars fixture atThebarton Ovaland was described as the best and most classy player afield.[8]
AFL career
[edit]Collingwood (2021-2022)
[edit]Poulter was drafted byCollingwoodwith their fourth pick of the2020 national draft,which was the 30th pick overall.[9]Following aVictorian Football League(VFL) match againstEssendonin which he collected 27 disposals,[10]Poulter made his AFL debut against theGold Coastin the seventh round of the2021 AFL season,at theMCG.[11]In October 2022, following the trade period, Poulter was delisted by Collingwood.[12]
Western Bulldogs (2023-present)
[edit]In a bid to get relisted, Poulter was signed byWestern BulldogsVFL side, Footscray. He played well enough to be drafted at Pick 10 by the Western Bulldogs in the 2023 AFL mid-season draft.[13] At the completion of the 2023 season Poulter was awarded with a contract extension until the 2025 season.[14]
