Caroline Augusta Lord(1860-1927) was an American painter[1]who taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for decades.

Biography[edit]

Lord was born in 1860 inCincinnati.[2]Beginning in 1884 she attended theArt Academy ofCincinnati where she studied withThomas Satterwhite Nobleand Lewis C. Lutz. She traveled to Paris in 1890 to study withJean-Paul LaurensandJean-Joseph Benjamin-Constantat theAcadémie Julian.While studying in Paris Lord became acquainted with fellow painterElizabeth Nourse.In 1892 Lord moved to New York where she studied withKenyon Coxat theArt Students League of New York.[3]

From 1892 through 1895 she exhibited at theParis Salon.[4]Sheexhibitedher work in the Cincinnati Room ofthe Woman's Buildingat the 1893World's Columbian Expositionin Chicago, Illinois.[5]

Lord was a member of theSociety of Western Artistsand the Cincinnati Women's Art Club. She taught at the Art Academy of Cincinnati for thirty-four years.[3]

Lord died in 1927 in Cincinnati.[3]
