TheCave of Dzhebelis anarcheological sitenear theKrasnovodsk Gulfof theCaspian SeainTurkmenistan.First explored byAlexey Okladnikovin 1949 and 1950, the site revealedMesolithic,Neolithicand earlyBronze Ageartefacts.[1]

According toBernard Sergent,thelithicassemblageof the firstKurgan cultureinUkraine(Sredni Stog II), which originated from theVolgaandSouth Urals,recalls that of theMesolithic-Neolithicsites to the east of theCaspian Sea,Dam Dam Chesme IIand the cave of Dzhebel. According to Sergent, the Dzhebel material is related to aPaleolithicmaterial ofNorthwestern Iran,theZarzian culture,dated 10,000-8,500 BC, and in the more ancientKebarianof theNear East.[2]
