TheChief Justice of the Supreme Court of Japan(Tối cao trọng tài sở trường quan,Saikōsaibansho-chōkan)is the chief judge of theSupreme Court of Japanand is the head of thejudicial branchof theJapanese government.
The Chief Justice is ceremoniallyappointedby theEmperor of Japanafter being nominated by theCabinet;in practice, this is following the recommendation of the retiring Chief Justice.[1]
