Chloropicophyceaeis a class ofgreen algaein the divisionChlorophytathat, along withPicocystophyceae,coincides with the traditional "prasinophyteclade VII ".Chloropicophyceae has a single order,Chloropicaleswith a single family,Chloropicaceae.

Description

Members of this class are coccoid green cells, with a diameter of 1.5–4 μm, found in marine waters, with onenucleus,onemitochondrion,and onechloroplastsurrounded by two membranes, containingstarch grain;their single chloroplast haschlorophyllsaandb;they lackpyrenoidandflagella;and they have a layeredcell wall.Theirsexual reproductionis unknown.
