TheChothe peopleis one of theNagaethnic groupfound in the state ofManipur,India.Some historians andanthropologistshave erroneously recorded the Chothe as thePurumof India. They are listed as aScheduled Tribe,in accordance with TheScheduled Castes and Scheduled TribesOrders (Amendment) Act, 1976Indian Constitution.[3][4] They useMeitei languageas theirsecond language(L2) according to theEthnologue.[5]

According to the 2011 census, the population of the Chothe tribe in Manipur was 3,585.
