Cielo(Italianfor 'sky'; stylised ascielo) is an Italianfree-to-airtelevision channelowned bySky Italiaaimed towards young audiences,[1]and is available ondigital terrestrial televisionand on Skysatellite televisionplatform. Originally planned to be launched on 1 December 2009,[2]it was delayed to 16 December 2009.[3]
Cielo is abarker channel,as it mainly airs reruns of programs aired on Sky premium channels, similarly toSky UK's counterpartPick.However it also simulcastsSky TG24for news bulletins.
Sky Italia has broadcast the coverage of theXXII Olympic Winter Gamesin Sochi (in which Sky owned broadcasting rights for Italy) free-to-air on the channel.
