Clio Maria Bittoni(born 10 November 1934) is anItalianlawyer specializing in labor law. She is the widow ofGiorgio Napolitano,formerPresident of Italy.

Biography

Clio Maria Bittoni was born inChiaravalle,Ancona,on 10 November 1934.[1][2]Her parents were Diva Campanella and Amleto Bittoni.[3]She received a degree in law from theUniversity of Naplesin 1958.[1]

Bittoni met her future husband inNapleswhile attending the university.[3]Following her graduation, they married in 1959,[4]and settled in Rome.[5]They have two sons:[1][4]Giovanni (born 1961) and Giulio (born 1969).[3]

Bittoni worked as a lawyer for the League of Cooperatives until 1992 when Giorgio Napolitano was elected aspresident of the Chamber of Deputies.[2]
