Aclose-mid vowel(alsomid-close vowel,high-mid vowel,mid-high vowelorhalf-close vowel) is any in a class ofvowelsound used in some spokenlanguages.The defining characteristic of a close-mid vowel is that the tongue is positioned one third of the way from aclose vowelto anopen vowel.[1]
