Coast Roadis one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) inMid and East Antrim,Northern Ireland.[1]The district elects five members toMid and East Antrim District Counciland contains the wards of Cairncastle, Carnlough and Glenarm, Craigyhill, Gardenmore and The Maidens.[2]Coast Road forms part of the East Antrim constituencies for theNorthern Ireland AssemblyandUK Parliament.
It was created for the1985 local elections,replacingLarne Area Aand part ofLarne Area Cwhich had existed since 1973, where it originally contained five wards (Ballyloran, Carncastle, Carnlough, Craigy Hill and Glenarm). For the2014 local electionsit gained most of Larne from the abolishedLarne Town DEA.
