Komandarmis the abbreviation of theRussian:командующий армией,romanized:komanduyushtchi armiy,lit. 'commander of the army / army commander', and was a military rank used in theSoviet Union.Between 1918 and 1935, it was a rank in theRed Army,roughly equivalent to Flotilla commander in theRed Fleet.In 1935, the rank was split in two, before being abolished and replaced byArmy generalin 1940.
