History
[edit]It was the site of theNapoleonicBattle of Craonnein 1814. The former town was totally destroyed by the French artillery during theNivelle OffensiveinWorld War I,inspiring the songLa Chanson de Craonne.It had anarboretum.The town that exists today was rebuilt from the 1920s.
