Csík(Hungarian, in Romanian:Ciuc) was an administrative county (comitatus) of theKingdom of Hungary.Its territory is now in centralRomania(easternTransylvania). The capital of the county was Csíkszereda (nowMiercurea Ciuc).

Csík county shared borders withKingdom of Romaniaand the Hungarian counties ofBeszterce-Naszód,Maros-Torda,UdvarhelyandHáromszék.The county was situated in theCarpathian Mountains,around the sources and upper courses of the riversOltandMureș.Its area was 4,859 km2around 1910.
History
[edit]Csík county consisted of three formerseatsof theSzékelys:Csíkszék,GyergyószékandKászonszék(the latter two as filial seats of the former). It was formed in 1876, when the administrative structure ofTransylvaniawas changed. In 1920, by theTreaty of Trianon,the county became part of Romania. It was returned to Hungary by theSecond Vienna Awardof 1940. AfterWorld War II,it became again part of Romania. Most of its territory lies in the present-day Romanian county ofHarghita,with small parts inSuceava,NeamțandBacău.
