TheDão line(Portuguese:Linha do Dão) was ametre gaugerailway line inPortugal.It ran close to theDão River(Rio Dão), betweenSanta Comba DãoandViseuTheir distance is 39.6 Km.[1][page needed]It is now agreenwayfor cyclists and pedestrians under the nameEcopista do Dão.
The line opened in 1890; it was closed to freight in 1972 and to passengers on 25 September 1988.[2]The tracks have since been lifted and largely replaced by arail trail.[3]
