Dénes Nagy(Budapest,1980)[1]is a Hungarian film director, editor and screenwriter. His first feature film,Natural Lightwas awarded theSilver Bear for Best Directorin 2021.[2][3][4]

Life and career[edit]

He graduated from theUniversity of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapestin film directing in 2009.[1]He attended theDeutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlinfor one year. Several of his short films were shown in international festivals; his 2006 shortKovács Évawas invited to theTampere Film Festival,Russian Playgroundwas shown at Cannes Critics' Week in 2009, the short filmEgyüttreceived the Hungarian Film Critics' Award for best short film and won the award for best short film director at the 38th Hungarian Film Week (Magyar Filmszemle).[1]His work titledLágy esőwon the Fiction Grand Prize award at the PortugueseCurtas Vila do Condefilm festival in 2013.[5]
