DJ Logic(bornLee Jason Kibler,1972) is an AmericanDJprimarily known for his work innu-jazz,acid-jazz,and withjam bands.
Life and career
[edit]Born and raised inThe Bronx,New York,Kibler displayed an early interest inhip hop,funk,andjazzmusic. He began practicing on theturntablesand collaborating with various musicians, creating recordings best described as a contemporarysoul jazzwith a string hip hop feel.[citation needed][editorializing]
Kibler often tours with his own group, Project Logic, and has recorded or performed withVernon Reid,moe.,John Mayer,Medeski Martin & Wood,Bob Belden,Jack Johnson,Chris Whitley,Uri Caine,Christian McBrideand others.
On September 10, 2001, Project Logic performed the final official show atWetlands Preservebefore the closing of the venue, featuring special guestsWarren HaynesofThe Allman Brothers BandandGov't Mule,Stanley JordanandMike Gordon.[citation needed]
On April 6, 2006, Kibler sat in withBob Weir'sRatDog,adding his style to the famousGrateful Deadsong combo "China Cat Sunflower/I Know You Rider." He is a founding member ofThe John Popper Project.On August 15, 2009, Kibler sat in withO.A.R.atMadison Square Garden,adding his style to their latest single, "This Town".[citation needed]
Kibler has often cited his mentor as Vernon Reid.[citation needed]The duo have recorded and toured as the Yohimbe Brothers with various guests, and Kibler has appeared on studio and live performances on Reid's solo projects. Reid also performed a guest solo for Kibler's original Band Eye and I, which featured D.K. Dyson andMelvin Gibbs,who has played on all of Kibler's solo releases.[citation needed]
