Deer Parkis a city inHamilton County,Ohio,United States. It is a suburb ofCincinnati.The population was 5,432 at the2020 census.

History

TheCincinnati, Lebanon and Northern Railwaybegan running through the town in 1881, along the "Highland Route".In 1795, following the signing of theTreaty of Greenvillewhich provided assurances to Ohio settlers that they would be protected from Indian "intrusions", Samuel and Rebecca DeMent Pierson established the first log home in the area near Deer Park.

In 1894, Deer Park was described as having one store and a Catholic church.

The community was incorporated in 1912.

As of the census of 2020, there were 5,432 people living in the city, for a population density of 6,360.66 people per square mile (2,456.77/km²). There were 2,745 housing units. The racial makeup of the city was 84.7%White,5.8%BlackorAfrican American,0.2%Native American,2.2%Asian,0.1%Pacific Islander,1.6% fromsome other race,and 5.5% from two or more races. 3.1% of the population wereHispanicorLatinoof any race.

There were 2,600 households, out of which 20.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.8% weremarried couplesliving together, 27.2% had a male householder with no spouse present, and 26.0% had a female householder with no spouse present. 39.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.8% were someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.03, and the average family size was 2.70.

16.6% of the city's population were under the age of 18, 64.7% were 18 to 64, and 18.7% were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44.2. For every 100 females, there were 104.5 males.

According to the U.S. CensusAmerican Community Survey,for the period 2016-2020 the estimated median annual income for a household in the city was $68,545, and the median income for a family was $87,996. About 9.4% of the population were living below thepoverty line,including 17.4% of those under age 18 and 4.8% of those age 65 or older. As of thecensusof 2010, there were 5,736 people, 2,618 households, and 1,398 families living in the city. Thepopulation densitywas 6,593.1 inhabitants per square mile (2,545.6/km²). There were 2,784 housing units at an average density of 3,200.0 per square mile (1,235.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 91.9%White,4.6%African American,0.1%Native American,1.3%Asian,0.6% fromother races,and 1.5% from two or more races.HispanicorLatinoof any race were 1.7% of the population.

There were 2,618 households, of which 24.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.1% weremarried couplesliving together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 46.6% were non-families. 39.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.12 and the average family size was 2.86.

The median age in the city was 38.5 years. 18.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.4% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 31.8% were from 25 to 44; 26.1% were from 45 to 64; and 15.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 47.4% male and 52.6% female.

The racial makeup of the city was 96.52%White,1.69%African American,0.18%Native American,0.69%Asian,0.22% fromother races,and 0.70% from two or more races.HispanicorLatinoof any race were 0.67% of the population.

There were 2,634 households, out of which 25.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.0% weremarried couplesliving together, 9.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 43.2% were non-families. 39.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.94.

In the city the population was spread out, with 21.8% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 32.7% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 86.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $39,692, and the median income for a family was $45,585. Males had a median income of $36,753 versus $28,706 for females.
