TheDelta C,orThor-Delta Cwas an Americanexpendable launch systemused for thirteenorbitallaunches between 1963 and 1969. It was a member of theDeltafamily of rockets.
The first stage was aThormissile in theDSV-2Aconfiguration, and the second stage was theDelta D,which was derived from the earlierDelta.The baseline Delta C used anAltair-2third stage, whilst the Delta C1 had anFW-4Dthird stage, which provided a higher payload capacity than the Altair. It is unclear whether two or three launches were made using the C1 configuration.
The Delta C was launched fromCape Canaveral Air Force StationLaunch Complex 17.Most launches carriedNASAresearch satellites intolow Earth orbit.[1][2]
