Dennis Leung Tsz-wing,MH(Chinese:Sống núi dĩnh;born 6 October 1973) is a Hong Kong politician and teacher. He is a member of theLegislative Council of Hong KongforLabour constituency,representingHong Kong Federation of Trade Unions(FTU).
Biography
[edit]Leung was graduated from theHong Kong University of Science & Technologywith a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and theChinese University of Hong Kongwith a postgraduate diploma of education and a Master of Education. He also obtained a Master of Science in mathematics of actuarial science and finance from theCity University of Hong Kongand theParis Dauphine University.[1]
He taught in several secondary schools in his teaching career, including theSheng Kung Hui Lam Woo Memorial Secondary SchoolinKwai Chungwhere he laid the foundation of his political career in the district.[2]
Leung first participated in the electoral politics when he contested in the2003 District Council election,running inSiu Hongas a candidate for pro-BeijingDemocratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong(DAB) but was defeated byJosephine Chanof theDemocratic Party.[3]He was first elected to theKwai Tsing District Councilin the2007 District Council electionthroughOn Yam constituency,until he was defeated in thepro-democracy landslide in 2019.
He ran as a candidate for theHong Kong Federation of Trade Unions(FTU) led byWong Kwok-hingin the2008 Legislative Council electioninNew Territories West,where he was placed the fifth on the ticket. He was again placed second behindChan Yuen-hanon the FTU ticket inDistrict Council (Second)territory-wide constituency, but was also not elected.
Leung was elected in the2021 Legislative Council electionthroughLabour constituency.[4]
