Derek Yee Tung-sing(traditional Chinese:Ngươi đông thăng;simplified Chinese:Ngươi đông thăng;pinyin:Ěr Dōngshēng) is a Hong Kong filmmaker and former actor.
Early life[edit]
Yee was born Yee Tung-sing inHong Kongon 28 December 1957,[2]the son of Yee Kwong ( ngươi quang ), a film producer fromTientsin(Tianjin), and Hung Wei ( hồng vi ), an actress of halfManchu,halfMongolethnicity.[2][3]His elder half-brothersPaul ChunandDavid Chiangas well as his elder half-sister Yim Wai were also actors.[2]
Career[edit]
In 1977, Yee became an actor forShaw Brothers Studioin Hong Kong and starred in over 40 movies produced by the studio.
Yee became a screenwriter and film director. He is known for the 2004 filmOne Nite in Mongkok,[4]which won multiple awards. His other notable films includeC'est la vie, mon chéri,Viva Erotica,The Truth About Jane and SamandProtégé.
In 2017, Yee became the chairman of Hong Kong Film Awards Association.[5]
