Desire the Right

Desire the Rightis the motto of theFalkland Islands.[1]It makes reference to theDesire,the vessel from which English sea-captainJohn Davissighted the Falkland Islands in 1592.[2][3]

The motto was adopted as the name of a political party which advocatedrapprochementwith Argentina, theDesire the Right Party,which fielded three candidates in the1989 general election,although none were elected.[4]
