Diane Parry(French pronunciation:[djanpaʁi];born 1 September 2002) is a French professionaltennisplayer. On 28 October 2024, she achieved a career-highWTA singles rankingof world No. 48. On 4 December 2023, she peaked at No. 74 in the doubles rankings. She was the junior world No. 1 in 2019.

2017: WTA Tour debut
[edit]She made herWTA Tourmain-draw debut at theFrench Openthanks to a wildcard, partneringGiulia Morlet;they were defeated by the 13th-seeded pair ofKiki BertensandJohanna Larsson,in two sets in the first round.[3]
Parry won her firstITF Circuittournament in Hammamet, Tunisia, partnering Yasmine Mansouri.[citation needed]
2018–2019: Major debut
[edit]She made her Grand Slam singles debut at the2018 French Open,entering the qualifying event as a wildcard, where she upset No. 5 seed,Jana Fett,in the first round before losing toRebecca Šramkováin the second.[3]
Parry made her Grand Slam singles main-draw debut at the2019 French Openas a wildcard, losing in the second round to No. 20 seedElise Mertens,after having won againstVera Lapkoin the first. Later that year, she also made herUS Opendebut as a wildcard, losing in the first round againstKristýna Plíšková.[citation needed]
2020–2021: First WTA 125 title
[edit]In 2020, Parry won her first ITF Circuit singles title in Antalya, Turkey againstBerfu Cengizin the final.[citation needed]
In 2021, Parry won three additional ITF tournaments, in Périgueux, France, Turin, Italy, and Seville, Spain, bringing her perfect record to 4–0 in ITF Circuit finals.[citation needed]
She reached her first final on theWTA Challenger Tourat theArgentine Open,losing 3–6, 3–6 toAnna Bondar.[4]Two weeks later, she won her firstWTA 125tournament at theMontevideo Open,winning the final 6–3, 6–2 againstPanna Udvardy.[5]
2022: French Open third round
[edit]Parry made the second round at theFrench Opendefeating defending champion and world No. 2,Barbora Krejčíková,her first career match against a top-10 player and a top-50 player.[6][7]Next, she defeatedCamila Osorioto reach the third round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career.[8]She lost toSloane Stephensin the third round.[9]
2023: Maiden WTA Tour doubles title
[edit]Playing at theMérida OpenwithCaty McNally,she won her maiden career doubles title, beatingWang XinyuandWu Fang-hsienin the final.[10]She was runner-up in the singles at theMontevideo Open,losing the final toRenata Zarazúain three sets.[11]
2024: Australian Open third round and three WTA semifinals
[edit]Parry reached the third round of theAustralian Openfor the first time at this major, defeating 30th seedWang Xinyu[12]andKamilla Rakhimova,[13]before losing toMirra Andreeva.[14]
On her debut at the WTA 1000 level, at theIndian Wells Open,she recorded her firs wins at this level, reaching the fourth round by defeatingMartina Trevisan,[15]29th seedLeylah Fernandez[16]andAnna Blinkova.[17]Her run was ended by ninth seedMaria Sakkari[18]
At the next WTA 1000, theMiami Open,Parry reached the second round defeatingJaqueline Cristian,[19]before losing to 11th seedBeatriz Haddad Maiain three sets.[20]As result, she reached the top 50, a week later on 8 April.[citation needed]
She reached her first grass-court semifinal at theNottingham Open,losing to sixth seedKarolina Plíšková,[21]having overcomeCristina Bucșa,[22]Daria Saville[23]andKimberly Birrell[24]on her way to the last four.
As top seed, Parry made it through to the quarterfinals at theSwedish Openwith wins over wildcardCaijsa Hennemann[25]andDarja Semenistaja,[26]before losing to seventh seedMartina Trevisan.[27]
She defeated qualifierOlivia Gadecki,[28]Jil Teichmann[29]andChloe Paquet[30]to reach the semifinals at thePalermo Open,where she lost to top seedZheng Qinwen.[31]
PartneringHarriet Dart,Parry reached the round of 16 in the doubles at theUS Openafter a three-set win over Olympic champions and sixth seeds,Sara ErraniandJasmine Paolini,in the second round.[32]They lost to 10th seedsChan Hao-chingandVeronika Kudermetova.[33]
Seeded seventh, Parry made her third WTA semifinal of the year at theJapan Women's Open,recording wins overErika Andreeva,[34]Greet Minnen[35]andClara Tauson,[36]before losing to eventual championSuzan Lamens.[37]
