Dirk Brouwer(Dutch pronunciation:[ˈdɪr(ə)ɡˈbrʌu.ər];September 1, 1902 – January 31, 1966) was a Dutch-American astronomer.[2]

He received his PhD in 1927 atLeiden UniversityunderWillem de Sitter[3]and then went toYale University.From 1941 until 1966 he was editor of theAstronomical Journal.

He specialized incelestial mechanicsand together withGerald Clemencewrote the textbookMethods of Celestial Mechanics.
