Dominic Barry(born 7 March 1994) is a former professionalAustralian rules footballerwho played for theMelbourne Football Cluband thePort Adelaide Football Clubin theAustralian Football League(AFL).
Barry was initially aGreater Western Sydneyrecruit as part of their zone recruiting, however, he was on-traded to Melbourne, which saw Melbourne also landJesse Hoganin exchange for picks 3 and 13 during the 2012trade period.[1]
At the end of the 2013 season, Barry representedAustraliain the2013 International Rules Seriesagainst Ireland, despite having not played an AFL game.[2]
Barry made his AFL debut inround 15, 2014against theWestern Bulldogs.[3]He played five games for 2014 before notifying Melbourne at the start of the pre-season that he had lost the desire to play AFL and would be returning toCentral Australiato focus on his family and cultural identity.[4][5]
In 2016, Barry began playing withGlenelgin theSouth Australian National Football League(SANFL). He had spent 2015 as a school bus driver and playing local football inAnangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara.After one season with Glenelg, Barry nominated for the2017 AFL draftand was taken byPort Adelaidewith selection number 61.[6]
