History

From the1885 general electionto the1983 general election,Doncaster was represented by the soleDoncaster constituency.From1997to2010,it was divided into 4constituencies,with theBarnsley East and Mexboroughconstituency consisting of wards inBarnsleyand theMexborougharea. This constituency was abolished for the 2010 general election and theMexborougharea was added to theDoncaster Northconstituency.
