Doug E. Doug(bornDouglas Bourne;January 7, 1970)[1]is an American actor. He started his career at age 17 as a stand-up comedian. He played the role of Griffin Vesey on theCBSsitcomCosby,Sanka Coffie in the filmCool Runnings,and the voice of Bernie in the animated filmShark Tale.

Douglas Bourne was born inBrooklyn,New Yorkto aJamaicanfather and African-American mother.[2]
Career[edit]
Doug has appeared in a number of films, includingJungle Fever(1991),Hangin' with the Homeboys(1991),Class Act(1992),Cool Runnings(1993),Operation Dumbo Drop(1995), the remake ofDisney'sThat Darn Cat(1997), andEight Legged Freaks(2002). He was the star of his own short-livedABCsitcom,Where I Live,a show which won the acclaim ofBill Cosby,and subsequently played Hilton Lucas's boarder and surrogate son Griffin Vesey onCosby.In 2004, he had a voice role in theanimated featureShark Tale,and also appeared on two episodes ofLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit(2004, 2012).
Professional career[edit]
Doug E. Doug started off his career as a stand-up comic at the age of 17. Doug was first seen at theApollo TheaterbyRussell Simmons,who then asked Doug to write and host a syndicated late-night program Simmons produced calledThe New Music Report.His entrance into film began when he spoke one line inSpike Lee's filmMo' Better Blues.[3]
Doug is known to movie viewers for his starring role as the spiritedpushcartdriver turned bobsled racer inCool Runnings.The movie is loosely based on the true story of the firstJamaica national bobsled teamtrying to make it to theWinter Olympics.
Doug is also known for his roles as the ne'er do well Willie Stevens inHangin' with the Homeboys.For this role, he received anIndependent Spirit Awardnomination for Best Actor. He played a class comedian inClass Act,a soldier enlisted for an unusual duty inOperation Dumbo Drop,an ill-fated high school student in the horror epicDr. Giggles,and anFBIagent inthe 1997 remake of That Darn Cat.In theWarner Bros.science fiction comedyEight Legged Freaks,he portrayed a paranoid small-town radio host with visions of an alien invasion. In the animatedDreamWorksfilm,Shark Tale,his is the voice of Bernie the jellyfish.[3]
In television, Doug starred in theABCseriesWhere I Live,a show developed around his life and on which he served as co-producer. In the series, he portrayed Douglas Saint Martin, a quirky teenager growing up in a working-class Caribbean family in New York. Doug also co-hosted theVH-1seriesRock of Agesand spent four season's starring as the character Griffin in the television seriesCosby.On theNickelodeonanimated show,Little Bill,Doug voiced Percy the pet store owner. Doug guest-starred inTouched by an Angel,Law and Order: SVU,and NBC'sConviction.
In theater, Doug starred in the musicalPurlie.It ran from March 31 through April 3, 2005.[4]
Doug made his debut as a director/producer with the screenplayCitizen James,in which he also co-wrote and starred.Citizen Jamesaired onStarz Encore/BET Movies.[3]
Doug launched a newYouTubecomedy channel The Doug Life Show in late 2012 as part of TheComedy ShaqNetwork. It is a series of skit comedy and commentaries very loosely based around the experiences, thoughts, and life of Doug.[5]
He stars in the 2015 movieAn Act of War.
