Edward C. Braunstein(born April 21, 1981) is anAmericanpolitician fromBayside, Queens.He is aDemocraticmember of theNew York State Assemblyrepresenting the26th Assembly DistrictinQueens, New York.[2]

Braunstein received aBachelor of Sciencedegree in finance from theState University of New York at Albany.After college he worked as a legislative assistant in the New York City office of Assembly SpeakerSheldon Silver,while also attending evening classes atNew York Law School.[3]He graduatedmagna cum laudein February 2009[4]and subsequently passed the New York State bar exam that same month.[1][3]

He has served onQueens Community Board 11and was a member of its Parks Committee and Education Committee.[3]

Braunstein won a September 2010 Democraticprimary electionto replace retiring Assembly memberAnn-Margaret Carrozza.[2]In the November 2010general electionhe defeated the Conservative-Republican candidate by a vote of 15,264 to 11,043.[5]
