Effurunis a town and the headquarters ofUvwie Local Government AreainDelta State,Nigeria.It is an Urban center, densely populated with different infrastructural development. it borders itstwin cityWarri,also serves as an entrance toWarri.
It shares boundaries withAgbarhoto the east, Udu to the south,Ughelli Southto the south east,Okpeto the north andWarrito the west. Due to her proximity withWarri,rapid population growth and several road network linking both towns and her environs, it formed aconurbationcollectively referred to as Warri by people from other parts of the state andNigeriaat large, though each towns in "Warri conurbation" are under different traditional and political authorities.
Effurun is one of the major hubs of economic activities and businesses inDelta State.
The city herself is indigenous to the Uvwie people, a subgroup of theUrhobo.[citation needed]
Its inhabitants are predominantlyChristiansof different denominations, and some practice a mixture ofAfrican traditional religionmost notably theIgbe religioncommon amongstUrhoboslike most of Southern Nigeria. The city along withWarriand environs are known nationwide for her uniquePidgin English.[citation needed]
