Emel Emin(Romanian pronunciation:[eˈmeleˈmin]) is aRomanianCrimean Tatarpoet,translator,Turkologist,andeducator.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] She writes her work inTurkish.Although most of herpoetryisfree verse,she sometimes usessyllabic verseand she admiresArabic prosody.With love for traditional forms of poetry she also publishedghazalandrubayat.[5][7]She is associated with theWriters' Union of RomaniaandTurkish Language Association[6]inTurkey.

Biography

Emel was born on 12 December 1938 in what was formerly named Pazarjik,Dobruja,Kingdom of Romania.Soon after that, at the beginning ofWorld War II,RomaniacededSouthern DobrujatoBulgariaand today the town is officially known asDobrich.During her early years spent in Bulgaria she studied at thePedagogicalHigh School inSofiaand then, in 1960, she graduated from the Faculty ofPhilologyofSv. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofiaspecializing inOriental studies.She worked as a teacher of Turkish in Dobrich andBelogradets,Varna Province.[5][6]

In 1967, marrying Atilla inRomania,she resettled to her homeland inConstanța.She was one of the first Turkish language teachers in Romania. Since 1972 she taught at the Pedagogical High School in Constanta. Since 1991 she was alecturerofTurkish literatureat the Faculty of Letters and the College ofschoolmastersofOvidius Universityof Constanța.[5][6]
