Ecoline "Etie" Adrienne van Rees(1890-1973) was aDutchceramist.
Biography[edit]
Rees was born on 15 May 1890 inBuitenzorg,Dutch East Indies. She was mostly self-taught, but studied for several months with the Dutch artist Bernard Schregel inThe Hague.[1]Her work was included in the 1939 exhibition and saleOnze Kunst van Heden(Our Art of Today) at theRijksmuseumin Amsterdam. Rees was a member ofVereeniging tot Bevordering der Grafische Kunst(Association for the Promotion of Graphic Art), exhibiting with them in 1938, 1940 and 1941.[2]She was also a member of thePulchri Studioat The Hague.[1]In 1959 she was awarded Gold Medal ofInternational Ceramic ExhibitioninOstend.[3]In 1964 she had a solo exhibitionTussen mens en dier(Between humans and animals) at theMuseum Boijmans Van BeuningeninRotterdam.The same year she had solo exhibitions at theGemeentemuseum(Municipal Museum) in Arnhem, theMuseum voor Stad en Lande Groningen(theGroninger Museum), and theGemeentemuseum Den Haag(The Hague Municipal Museum).[4]
Rees died on 14 November 1973 inAerdenhout,Netherlands.[5]
